The mirror normally illuminates once the sun visor is lowered.
The light is fitted into the visor itself or the roof lining above it.
Some have independent switches allowing the visor to be lowered without the light illuminating.
The type fitted to the visor which has a lifting plastic lid over the mirror is very easily broken.
